Had a hankering for Indian food, chaat to be specific, while at work. The chaat was good, I'd give it a B-, I've definitely had better. Pass on dessert next time, go to Jackson Heights if you want fresh, tasty desserts.

Delivery was so fast and the food was delicious! I'm definitely ordering from here again!

Sadly, this was the worst food I've ever ordered for delivery! Do not waste your money on this restaurant. I threw away most of what I ordered as it was inedible because it had a thick lining of grease on top of my curry. The nan was okay and was the best part of my meal.

Love the chicken briyani..most of the food is good... But the lunch portion and dinner portion is the same..no point paying extra for dinner..feels like a ripoff! Paying a lot more for same portion is stealing...

Flood quality was bad. I ordered kheer and it smelled funny and looked like it was old

Very dissapointing experience. An order estimated to take 30-45 minutes took over 110 minutes. When I called after 60 minutes, the person who answered the phone laughed and assured me I would have my food within 5-10 minutes. When I called back after 80 cumulative minutes, she said the same. When I called back after 100 cumulative minutes, I received the same casual assurance and same lack of concern. What is so frustrating is that restaurants don't update their estimated delivery time to align with reality. Sure, posting a realistically long wait time might cost them a few orders on a single night. But posting obviously unrealistic wait times has cost Swagat my business forever.

Swagat is that rare Indian restaurant that has fish dishes in which the fish pieces are actually fried well. Most places either have no fish just shrimp dishes or if they do have fish, they grill or underfry the pieces. We've had the fish curry and the fish masala, both of which were great. Also, the shrimp vindaloo had a good amount of shrimp that was very tender. The price for the lunch specials was very reasonable. A great experience! One note - the meal did not come with paper plates or naan, but we didn't care about that.

Many solid dishes. The chicken tikka masala, lamb/chicken madras, goat biryiani are my faves but by and large, most of the other dishes won't disappoint either.

Ordered lunch from Swagat and was very impressed. Food had great flavors and still hot when it was delivered. Will definitely order again from here!

Meal was inedible. Far too salty and oily!!! Will never order from here again.

Terrible customer service. I've been waiting for my order for an hour and 15 minutes. When I called to ask where it was the reply was, "We're busy. Do you want it or nit?" I will NEVER order form this place again.

Was okay. The Saag was more soupy than I'm used to

Worst 'food' ever. It arrived an hour and ten minutes later. All six dishes we ordered were thrown out after two bites.

I always like this place. so cheap!! and so fast! At the restaurant they have food out lunch counter style, but if you want something not already out they will cook it up for you fresh.

Fast delivery. Delicious Food.

Not exactly good...chicken tikka masala was somewhat greasy and as someone else described raita was beyond watery. Not horrible but not good.
Posted 6 years ago by Charles G.
Not bad, food is always delivered quick and hot. I sometimes question the freshness of their ingredients but on the whole it is cheap and edible, probably one of the best of a bad bunch.

Our order came 1 HR after the maximum delivery time frame. On calling twice, they kept saying its on its way and be there in 10 mins. Cold food served late. Thats "never do it again" for me and my friends.

Kashmiri Nan and Masala Tea - both of these from this restaurant should be a level on the food pyramid. Do we even have a food pyramid anymore? The USDA is so confusing. Anyway, I'm trying to say I can eat Kashmiri Nan and drink Masala Tea from Swagat everyday.

Simply said, the best Indian place near the west 30s. I've ordered from here 10+ times and they never disappoint.
Posted 6 years ago by Will H.
The chicken tikka massala was inedible (it was barely any chicken covered in pure grease). When I asked for them to resend a new dish they refused and argued with me on the phone. Never order from this company.
Posted 7 years ago by mary m.
Chana Masala was bland and the raita was watery and not very tasty. I'm beginning to wonder if I will ever find decent Indian in this neighborhood.

Never actually been to restaurant, but they always delivered amazing food. I've had many indian coworkers fall in love with this spot as well! It's great!

Had two goes with this restaurant, and both were seamless, hah! (I was really going to use that word). For the price to value ratio- it's a fantastic deal. But the bonus is, the food has been super delicious too! I've only ever ordered two dishes during lunch time frame- Palek Paneer and Bindhi Masala. Delivery time has been reasonable. I'd recommend it for the vegetarian dishes based on my experience.

The food tasted old- rice, cheese, chicken. All of it. Do not order from here.

Best food for the money in NYC.

Swagat offers one of the best chicken saag dishes I've ever tasted. The sauce is creamy, with flavorful spinach in a creamy sauce that somehow avoids being heavy or greasy. The Vindaloo is good, although not as spicy as hard core fans might hope, but the chicken tikka masala is a bit thin. All their breads are delicious and fresh, even when delivered. Mango lassi is some of the best I've had. Delivery is prompt and the lunch prices offer real deals.

With better cheap Indian places in Chelsea, I don't really see a reason to order from here again. I'd recommend trying Minar or Sirtaj. I suppose Swagat will do if you're really broke and really hungry, but the food is pretty bland.

absolutely terrible, look carefully in the food

I am thrilled to have found my indian restaurant in the neighborhood! I am an avid fan of indian cuisine and my wife is just getting into it. The chicken tikka was moist, NOT dried chunks drowned in sauce, the saag paneer, while a softer texture than I am used to was very tasty. The restaurant even made a special dish for my wife, who is not a fan of lamb. They made chicken rogen josh and I was hooked! From the ordering (on the phone) to the politeness of the delivery guy, thank you Swagat for filling the void in the new neighborhood.

Be aware that delivery can be slow. Delivery this afternoon on Sunday took exactly an hour for a 10 block distance.

Came late, chicken tikka masala was pretty bad - burnt and tasted like fish.

Swagat is a family-owned and run homestyle indian restaurant. Their food is DELICIOUS, and it never makes me sick, which is saying something. Their naan and sodas are still only $1, which in 2010 is crazy. They are extremely hardworking and kind, will work with your dietary restrictions, and can make their food SUPER MILD or SUPER SPICY! I love Swagat.

Could see the oil on top of the sauce for the Chicken Tikka Masala. Each dish had too much sauce and not enough meat/vegetables.

I ordered onion pakora and i am not sure if the chef ever has tasted it . IT WAS HORRIBLE .THIS IS A INSULT TO INDIAN FOOD
Posted 10 years ago by Balaji N.
not so great. i thought i would try some new indian places but the food is pretty blande and nothing is really worth the prices. the price and the taste of the food is pretty much equal.

We ordered food from this restaurant on a Sunday night. It took an hour and 20 minutes for the food to be delivered. And not surprisingly, it was cold and they forgot to include rice.... Portions were decent size but the food was bland.
Posted 10 years ago by Emma G.
Always, always late. They say 20-40 mins but it's more like an hour and sometimes more. The quality of the meat is okay-poor. However, this is the only Indian delivery in the area that is cheap.
Posted 10 years ago by Carol H.
not good
Posted 10 years ago by lia b.
Wasn't great, a lot of rice and not a lot of the vegetable dishes in the lunch platter. But it's so cheap what do you expect.
Posted 10 years ago by Michelle S.
The food at Swagat is ok. Unfortunately my experience with delivery was extremely poor. Despite an estimate of 25 - 40 minutes, my food did not arrive for an hour and twenty minutes. The one really infuriating thing is that I tipped (well) ahead of time -- a mistake I will not make again.

This place deserves a much higher rating. Prices are fair, the food is excellent, they delivery on time and there's no hassle.
Posted 10 years ago by William H.
I ordered for Chicken Biryani and Samosa, Samosa is full of oil and dripping out. Chicken biryani is also a bit oily. There is no spoon in the bag. I certainly dont recommend to my friends or to anyone.

cheap, huge servings, but not great food. very low quality meat

Food was good, but they forgot a small item I paid for on the order. Hard to sop up all the good sauce without the Nan I paid for.
